Vacation

Vacation has begun. Well it began a few days ago. With vacation came a new Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens for my enjoyment. Vacation and enjoyment go together and although it has been raining, I have gotten out to try the lens.

The first couple of shots are in my Animals Gallery. The first is of a pelican stretching its neck . While the second shows the moment of take off for a song sparrow.

The lighting on the pelican was perfect to display the vibrant oranges/yellows of its large pouch. The blues of the water in the background further define those colors.

With the sparrow, speed and focus were on my side. The bird was sitting on that twig when I drew up the came to capture it. Much to my surprise it decided to take flight. I was amazed at how fast the new lens grabbed focus and kept it. The reward is evident with a sharp body, while the wings are still displaying motion.

Also posted is an HDR image of lone tree in a prairie. It can be found in the Trees Gallery. This picture has a lot going on when you look at it. The details of the individual portions are quite amazing. Deep rich colors in the sky, clouds and foreground flowers help lend to a complete landscape picture.

Vacation, everyone hopes for nice sunny weather, but that is not always the case. With vacation, you take what get and figure out how to make the most of it. Currently it’s still rainy and cold and like I said in a different post….“It’s still NOT SUMMER.”
